The Six Bars competition held on Saturday December 28, 2013 at 22:15pm was initially won by Athlete Carlos Ribas, who was the only rider who jumped clear during the third jump-off.
The Athlete then made a spontaneous first victory round during which he removed the security of his protective headgear and threw his helmet high in the air. He then continued full speed a second round during which he jumped obstacles 1 and 2 left in the arena but properly crossed.
The athlete has obviously transgressed FEI rules in the following : ARTICLE 241 ELIMINATIONS . 3. The following paragraphs lay down the reasons for which Athletes are eliminated in Jumping Competitions. The Ground Jury must enforce Elimination under the following circumstances: .
3.27 jumping or attempting to jump an obstacle in the arena after the completion of a round (refer to JRs Art. 202.6 regarding authorisation to jump an obstacle for the press).
Based on this Article the Athlete has been eliminated in the third Jump-off. In consequence, the ranking has been altered as follows :
1st Ex Alex Duffy, Rob De Bruijn and Karline De Brabander (4 points)

The Athlete has furthermore received an oral warning for taking off his protective hedagear during the victory round. The Ground Jury upon talking with the rider Carlos : ¨I admit I made a mistake. But, I did it because the crowd was so enthusiastic. I am a professional rider but I ride with my heart and the crowd was so supportive.¨ To show his good intention he has proposed to donate his 4th place winnings to the Charity Foundation Just World from Jessica Newman.
