Sixteen lady riders, of the 34 starters, qualified for the jump off in the Queens Cup, so it was necessary to go very fast to earn some money. Victory went to the Swedish Erika Lickhammer on Blast Off. The 29 yr old girl was riding the 11 yr old KWPN geldingonly for a few weeks but knew she could go fast. Erika : "Blast off is a very fast horse, that's why I chose him for the Queens Cup. As usual a lot of combinations where qualified for the jump off in this class and you need a fast horse to win. I love to ride in Mechelen, it's a super show with a very special atmosphere. It makes me think of Göteborg where the public is also very enthusiastic. For a girl it's special to win the Queens Cup. This year I participate in the two stars show because all my horses where sold this summer and I'm building up a new team."
