Untill now Nina Fagerström is the best rider of the Mechelen horse show. She was fourth, second and first in the previous classes. Tonight she won the Grand Prix Topsport Vlaanderen on Viva. Viva is a KWPN mare, born in 2002 from Corrado x Nimmerdor. Nina : " I'm riding Viva now for a year but because she had three foals before it took me a long time to have her physically ready for the highest level. I took her to the shows in Oslo, Helsinki and London. I started in the 1 m 40 classes and slowly build up to the 1 m 60 classes. When I came in for the jump I first wanted to ride her slowly but my winning spirit came up and I really went for it. The first time I do it on this level. The mare is not big but has a lot of scoop and she doesn't get confused of going fast." Nina is from Finland but lives already ten years in Belgium and likes it so much that she will certainly stay here some more years.
Jos Lansink on Casper van Spieveld didn't seem to go as fast as Nina but made some very sharp turns. He finished only on second slower and took the second place. Jos will be riding Valentina van 't Heike tomorrow in the FEI Rolex World Cup.
