28 Flemish riders started in the Flemish championship, a 1 m 45 class but certainly worthy of a championship. This together with the short time allowed was the reason that only five riders qualified for the jump off. The victory went to Koen Vereecke on his 11 year old Belgian Warmblood Allegro C van de Donkhoeve. He finished clear in 35.70, almost 3 second faster than runner up Benjamin Pieters on Atolie-Padebo. For Koen it's the first time he wins this competition : " I ride Allegro C since he was 7 years old, but the first two years I didn't go on competition because he was so scared, even in the stable. It took me a lot of patience and work but I think he is growing to his top level now. This year he jumped clear rounds in the nations cup in Linz and Gijon and we finished often in the top ten of an international Grand Prix. Tomorrow he will have a day off and on Thursday I will ride in him the Grand Prix."
