Course designer Lucien Somers constructed a beautiful but difficult course. Only 9 of the 40 combinations went clear, lots of the combinations had 4 penalties.
Francois Mathy Jr. and D’Atlantique Royale entered the arena first. They were obviously in a winning mood after yesterday’s victory in the Land Rover Masters, but his clear round in 35,89 sec. was only good for the second place.
The victory went to Swedish rider Henrik Von Eckermann. The rider from Ludger Beerbaum’s stables was very pleased: “One of my horses is possibly sold so Ludger and Madeleine Winter-Schulze offered me to ride Gotha FRH. Our first competition in Geneva did not go well, but I had a good feeling about this one. In only jumped her in two small classes before the World Cup. She gave me a real good feeling in the World Cup class so I decided to risk it all in the jump off, and even though I am not the fastest rider, Gotha FRH is a very fast horse and can take really short turns. This World Cup season is special to us because the final is in Göteborg. I am very pleased that Ludger and Madeleine will probably trust me to continue riding Gotha FRH and hope that I will collect more World Cup points."
